Kawasaki is currently finalising work on their upcoming dealerships at Kolhapur, Nagpur, Vizag, Calicut, Mangalore, Kolkata, Dehradun, Bhubaneshwar, Ludhiana and Goa. All 10 dealerships at these locations are expected to be up and running by the end of 2017, taking their total up to 22.
Just this year, Kawasaki and Bajaj ended their eight-year old sales tie-up. The alliance ended on April 1, 2017 which meant Kawasaki had to start afresh from its newly opened production facility in Chakan, Pune. Initially, the Japanese motorcycle company opened 12 dealerships in metro cities and other developed cities. However, 12 dealerships wouldn’t prove to be enough to cater to Kawasaki owners across the country.
Interestingly, Kawasaki has got a concept of soft-opening of dealership, after which bookings are accepted, so that customers don’t need to wait until full-fledged services commence. At present, each existing dealer has its own service centre and additionally eight dealers run mobile service van in selected cities.
Kawasaki’s latest motorcycle in India is the limited-edition Z900; it features a new colour scheme though remains mechanically unchanged. They also have motorcycles lined-up for EICMA and the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.
