Keeway Motors is set to make its entry into the Indian market with three products that were revealed last week – a cruiser motorcycle, a maxi-scooter and a retro-styled scooter. The K-Light 250V cruiser seems to be an interesting proposition, at least in terms of its design and on the spec sheet. Ahead of its expected launch this week, we list five key things about the Keeway K-Light 250V.

1. Looks like a typical cruiser

In terms of design, the Keeway K-Light 250V is a typical, brawny cruiser motorcycle. It features a large sculpted tank atop which sits the instrument cluster. Other design elements include a round headlight, a wide handlebar, scooped out seat for the rider, a faux radiator grille, dual exhaust pipes and a swingarm-mounted tyre hugger and number plate holder.

2. The only 250cc V-twin in India

The Keeway K-Light 250V becomes the only 250cc motorcycle with a V-twin engine in India. The last motorcycles on sale here to feature a 250cc V-twin engine were the Hyosung Aquila 250 cruiser and the GT250R sportbike.

3. Features a belt drive system

Apart from the V-twin engine, another highlight of the K-Light 250V is its belt drive system – which is typical for a cruiser motorcycle. The Keeway cruiser’s V-twin, air-cooled, 8-valve engine displaces 249cc and produces 18.7hp at 8,500rpm and 19Nm at 5,500rpm. Between the engine and the belt drive system sits a 5-speed gearbox.

4. Gets a USD fork up front

The Keeway K-Light 250V features an upside down (USD) fork set-up up front, and twin hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. Disc brakes feature at the front and back, with dual-channel ABS.

In terms of dimensions, the seat height is 715mm, which is quite accessible as even the Royal Enfield Meteor gets a 765mm seat height. The ground clearance is a reasonable 160mm too, but the bike tips the scales at 179kg, which is quite heavy.

5. Features LED lighting all round

As is becoming common with modern motorcycles, the Keeway features LED lighting all around – for the headlamp, tail-lamp and indicators. As for other features, the K-Light 250V’s instrument cluster packs in a digital speedometer, an analog tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel level indicator and trip meter. The fuel tank displaces a considerable 20 litres, which should be ideal for touring. The K-light 250V sits on 16-inch alloy wheels, with a 120/80-16 front tyre and 140/70-16 rear tyre.
