The KTM 250 Adventure has been launched in India at Rs 2.48 lakh. At this price, it costs around Rs 50,000 less than the 390 Adventure.

  • The 250 Adventure makes 30hp and 24Nm of torque

  • Misses out on the LED headlight

  • Features a new LCD display

We broke the news that KTM was working on a more affordable version of the 390 Adventure back in August 2019, and now the motorcycle is finally here.

KTM 250 Adventure features

Starting with equipment, the 250 Adventure gets off-road ABS as its larger sibling and also a new LCD instrument display. However, it misses out on the quickshifter, cornering ABS and traction control system from the 390. Another big difference is the use of a halogen headlight with LED DRLs, instead of the full-LED setup. The 250 Adventure comes equipped with MRF Mogrip Meteor tyres. While the 390 Adventure is available in white and orange colour schemes, the 250 Adventure can be had in black and orange ones.

KTM 250 Adventure engine

Like the 390 Adventure, the 250 Adventure is powered by the same engine as its street-naked sibling – the 250 Duke. Both share the 248.8cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 30hp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

We expect the gearing to be similar to its naked sibling as well, just like the 390 Adventure. While these high-revving engines haven’t originally been designed for use in these Adventure models, they still put out class-leading numbers.

KTM 250 Adventure chassis

The steel-trellis frame, subframe, and alloy wheels are the same as the 390, as is the 63.5-degree steering head angle. KTM also uses identical 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear wheel sizes.

Like the India-spec 390 Adventure, the 250’s 43mm WP Apex fork is not adjustable, and at the rear, the WP Apex monoshock gets only preload adjustment. The suspension travel (170mm front/ 177mm rear) and ground clearance of 200mm is identical to the 390’s as well.

KTM 250 Adventure competition

KTM’s 250 Adventure doesn’t have a direct rival, but it sits closer to the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.91-1.95 lakh) than its larger sibling. Another motorcycle that’s not too far when it comes to power and torque figures is the newly-launched BMW G 310 GS (Rs 2.85 lakh).

All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi.
