KTM appear to be testing either a touring version of the upcoming 390 Adventure or touring-oriented accessories for the motorcycle. These images of the bike clad in accessories surfaced a little over a month after we saw the 390 Adventure being tested in India for the first time. While we have a good understanding of the details of the upcoming motorcycle after the first set of images, the new ones reveal some more details.
Not only is the 390 Adventure equipped with saddlebags, it also appears to have a sizeable top box; and all of it is camouflaged. This could mean that these are KTM parts that the company is testing. Additionally, this test mule also appears to have the large crash guard seen on the previous bike as well, whether this will be an accessory or standard fitment remains to be seen.
The new image also reveals the tread pattern of the tyres on the upcoming bike and they appear to be dual-purpose, Continental-branded units that are 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear. Let aside the touring accessories, the bike remains similar to the one from the earlier spy images. The front end gets the trademark LED headlamp (split down the middle) and a fairly sizeable windscreen.
The switchgear appears to be the same as the current-gen 390 Duke, as do the mirrors and indicators, but the handlebar does look a little taller and wider. While it’s hard to tell from the image, it's quite likely that the full-colour TFT display on the 390 Duke will find its way to this bike as well. As for the engine, it is quite certainly going to be the same 373.2cc motor in the 390 Duke that makes 44hp and 37Nm. It may be tuned differently for this application, though, at least in terms of final drive gearing, if nothing else.
We expect KTM to stick to its standard launch schedule for India and introduce it sometime this year. Pricing, meanwhile, can go up by Rs 30,000-40,000 over the 390 Duke, making it a Rs 2.8-3 lakh motorcycle – significantly lesser than its nearest rival, the BMW G 310 GS.
