Ola Electric has begun delivering its S1 and S1 Pro scooters. Customers from Bengaluru and Chennai were the first to receive the scooters.
100 scooters delivered yesterday
More deliveries expected soon
Deliveries were originally slated to begin in October-November
Deliveries for Ola Electric’s S1 and S1 Pro were originally supposed to commence in the October-November period, but were postponed till mid-December. The delay has been attributed to the global chip shortage.
Ola claims that it delivered 100 scooters yesterday and tells us that it will go to “several thousands across various locations, the rest of the month”. The company has also said that “priority deliveries are based on an automated scientific approach that decides the delivery handover as per their purchase date, variant, location, color and other factors.”
To recap, Ola claims, upon completion, its factory will create almost 10,000 jobs and will be the world’s largest scooter manufacturing facility, which will initially have an annual capacity of 2 million units. The company’s line-up, meanwhile, consists of two models – S1 and S1 Pro. The S1 is priced at Rs 99,999, while the higher-spec S1 Pro costs Rs 1,29,999 in states other than Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The prices for the scooters are much lower in the four aforementioned states thanks to subsidies.
We recently had a chance to ride Ola’s flagship product, the S1 Pro, and you can check out our review here.
