CEO, Vinod Dasari, revealed at the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 launch last year that the company was planning to launch a new bike every quarter for the next seven years. That accounts for a total of 28 new machines, and the company is going to need a lot of new names. The latest name registered by the company is Royal Enfield Shotgun.

Royal Enfield’s upcoming models

Names like Royal Enfield Hunter, Royal Enfield Sherpa and the Royal Enfield Roadster have already been trademarked in the past year or two. Naturally, the internet has been quick to decide which of Royal Enfield’s upcoming models, that have been spied testing, will be named what.

Conjecture is all we have to go on at the moment, but if Royal Enfield is to use the Shotgun name, it could be quite a nice fit for one of the company’s upcoming 650cc models. The new 650cc platform debuted with the well-received Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 motorcycles in 2018.

Royal Enfield’s 650cc bikes

Frequently spotted spy pictures show that there are at least two more 650cc Royal Enfield bikes in the works. One of them is a cruiser style motorcycle with traditional ergonomics, while the other has more upright ergos with mid-set foot pegs.

It’s quite possible that the former will be called the Meteor 650, not only because its design is quite similar to Meteor 350, but also because the Meteor name is new to the Indian public, and Royal Enfield would do well to build the value of the brand.

The name Royal Enfield Shotgun could apply to the second 650cc test bike that has been spotted testing, or it could be saved for some other iteration of the 650cc platform that may debut at a later date. Only time will tell.

Royal Enfield new launches

While the upcoming 650cc bikes might still be some time away, the highly anticipated next generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 launch is expected any time now. The company has also been busy testing a roadster-stye motorcycle based on the 350cc platform that will take on the Honda CB350RS, and this is another launch we expect to see happen this year.
