September 2024 bike, scooter sales: RE outsells Suzuki, as festive season nears

Hero and Honda have sold well over 5 lakh units each.

As we gear up to enter the Indian festive season, here are the sales numbers for the major two-wheeler companies in India.  

Hero MotoCorp: 6,16,706 units

Market leader Hero maintains its position in September 2024, with over 6 lakh units sold last month. This marks an increase of 25.28 percent compared to August 2024’s sales tally of 4,92,263 units. Similarly, Hero also reported an 18.65 percent increase, as compared to its numbers for September 2023 (5,19,789 units). Honda: 5,36,391 units

While Honda outsold Hero in terms of retail sales, it is still in its usual number two position when it comes to cumulative dispatches. Even so, it sold over 5 lakh units last month, reporting a 9.10 percent increase compared to August 2024 (4,91,678 units). The company also reported a 9.07 percent increase when compared to its sales numbers for September 2023 (4,91,802 units). TVS: 3,69,138 units

 

TVS’ September sales numbers (3,69,138 units) were 27.70 percent higher than its August 2024 tally of 2,89,073 units. Similarly, the Hosur-based company also reported a 22.84 percent increase compared to its numbers for September last year (3,00,493 units). Bajaj: 2,59,333 units

 

With over 2.5 lakh units sold last month, Bajaj reported a 24.31 percent increase compared to its tally for August 2024 (2,08,621 units). Compared to its sales numbers for September last year (2,02,510 units), Bajaj reported an 28.06 percent increase also. Royal Enfield: 79,326 units

With a smidge less than 80,000 units sold, Royal Enfield reported a 20.88 percent increase in September, compared to the 65,624 units it sold in August. Even when compared to the 74,261 units it sold in September 2023, RE reported a 6.82 percent increase. Royal Enfield has finally made the optional tubeless rims for the Himalayan 450 available now. Suzuki: 77,263 units

Coming in just under the 80,000 units sales mark, Suzuki reported an 11.68 percent decrease last month compared to its August 2024 sales number of 87,480 units. Even compared to its September 2023 number of 83,856 units, the company reported a 7.86 percent decrease. Suzuki is working on an updated Access 125, which you can read about, HERE.
