Honda has sold four units of its BS4 Forza 300 scooter that the brand had brought down for display at its BigWing showrooms. While Honda hasn’t revealed the price for the BS4 Forzas it sold in India, it has confirmed that the high-performance scooter will launch in India as a BS6-compliant model next year.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd. said, “Encouraged by the excitement received from customers for the Forza 300s displayed at Honda BigWing, Gurugram (which were pre-booked), Honda decided to introduce it in India. We are pleased to announce that we have delivered the first lot of four units to our customers. Moving forward, we will announce the Euro 5 (BS6) compliant version in FY 2021.”
While the next financial year begins in a few months, we have been told that the scooter is only expected to be launched in the next calendar year. In its current BS4 form, the Forza 300 uses a 279cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC four-valve engine which delivers 25.1hp and 27.2Nm of torque. The Forza 300 also gets Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) – this system helps regain rear-wheel traction by detecting the difference between front and rear wheel speeds, calculating the slip ratio and further controlling engine torque via fuel injection.
The scooter uses a tubular steel frame with a 33mm telescopic fork and 7-step adjustable twin rear shock absorbers. The cast-aluminium 15-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear tyre will be amongst the largest on a scooter in India. The Forza also uses disc brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS.
Other features of the high-performance scooter include an electric screen, storage capacity for two full-face helmets and a digi-analogue instrument cluster. This cluster presents analogue speedometer and rev-counter dials along with a digital display that provides information like the odometer (3 modes), range, current mileage, trip meter, average mileage, ambient temperature, thermometer and battery sensor.
The current Forza 300 sells for around 5,000 GBP (Rs 4.65 lakh) in the United Kingdom. The upcoming Euro 5 (BS6) model is expected to cost slightly higher. Even if the company does manage to bring it in as a CKD, expect it to cost higher than it will in the United Kingdom.
