Suzuki has launched the Gixxer SF MotoGP edition at Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As its name suggests, this version of the Gixxer SF features the Suzuki Racing Blue colour scheme that takes cues from Suzuki’s MotoGP machine, GSX-RR. This special colour scheme will set you back an additional Rs 800 over the Gixxer SF with the standard colour options.
Like with the MotoGP editions of previous generation models, this one too gets the bright blue colour, Ecstar decals and a fluorescent rim tape. However, everything else, both mechanically and in terms of design remains unchanged from the standard bike. That said, the Gixxer SF was recently updated for 2019, where it got significant cosmetic revisions. The fairing is new and it now features a sharp-looking LED headlight. Other new additions include a new split-seat configuration, in place of the single seat one on the older model. The updated bike also uses a sportier clip-on handlebar.
Powering this special edition is the same 154.9cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that was available with the previous-gen model, but it makes a slightly lower 14.1hp and 14Nm of torque. Other hardware elements – like the suspension and brakes – also remain the same. The anti-lock braking system continues to be a single-channel unit like the one found on the older model.
Another MotoGP edition that is also expected to make its way to India soon is Yamaha’s Monster Energy YZF-R15 V3.0.
