The Yamaha R15 is all set to be updated and a recent spy picture revealed the fact that one of major additions is a new TFT display. The updated R15 will be launched on February 13, alongside the Yamaha MT-15, which has also been spotted with a dual-channel ABS set-up.

  1. New TFT display with lap timer

  2. LED indicators spotted on the R15 M

  3. MT-15 to finally get dual channel ABS

The model seen in the images is the Yamaha R15 M and it is unclear whether the TFT display will be exclusive to this top-spec variant or will the lower variants get it as well. Currently, the Yamaha R15 is available with an LCD display only.

A close look at the TFT display reveals a layout that looks similar to the one on the Yamaha R1 superbike. The R15’s new TFT display shows all the relevant information such as revs, speed, gear position, etc. It also has a lap timer display and we expect to see Bluetooth connectivity. Besides the new display, the bike also has LED indicators, which should be standard on the R15 M.

Barring these updates we expect to see no changes to the mechanicals of the bike. To reiterate, the R15 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 18.4hp and 14.2Nm.

Both the R15 and MT-15 will also be OBD-2 compliant well in time before the March 31, 2023 cut off date, after which two-wheelers that don’t comply with the norm cannot be sold.
