Yamaha has launched a new variant of the Cygnus Ray ZR called the Street Rally at Rs 57,898 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This price makes it Rs 2,000 more than the standard Ray ZR and the company’s most expensive scooter to go on sale in India. Its front fairing and rear-view mirrors have been redesigned. The Street Rally is also the first Yamaha scooter to get a fully digital instrument cluster.
Yamaha says that the new front fairing has been designed in a way to provide wind protection and prevent mud splatters. The Street Rally also features new graphics and colour schemes – namely, Rally Red and Racing Blue. Other than this, it remains nearly identical to the standard Ray ZR. The Ray ZR 110 Street Rally Edition will be powered by the same 113cc, air-cooled motor seen on all Yamaha scooters sold in India. Yamaha has not quoted power figures but we believe that the single-cylinder engine continues to develop 7.2hp and 8.1Nm of torque.
The Yamaha Cygnus Ray ZR Street Rally runs on 10-inch alloy wheels with 90/100 tubeless tyres on both ends. The Street Rally will come equipped with a front disc brake as standard – which is still optional on the regular Ray ZR. At this price, the two-wheeler now directly competes with the more powerful 125cc scooters, like the TVS Ntorq, Honda Grazia and the Suzuki Access.
The two-wheeler manufacturer will also launch the Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP edition in India, soon.
