Yamaha was the first brand that introduced hybrid tech to the Indian commuter class with its Fascino and Ray ZR scooters, and now, the FZ-X 150cc commuter bike will also get that technology. The FZ-S is likely to be updated with new colours, and both bikes are likely to be launched at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

  1. FZ-X will get some feature additions; price hike likely
  2. FZ-S to get new colours; small price bump expected
  3. Both likely to launch at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Yamaha FZ-X will get hybrid tech, TFT display

The hybrid tech on the updated Yamaha FZ-X will be courtesy of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which will provide a small electric boost to bump up the maximum output of the bike. As a result, two other features that will be bundled into the FZ-X will be start/stop tech and a silent start. The FZ-X’s air-cooled, 149cc, single-cylinder engine makes 12.4hp and 13.3Nm, so expect a small increment on the updated model.

The other change will be the presence of a colour TFT display, which will bring in things like call/notification alerts and music playback control and make use of new switchgear to control the additional functions. Both these features are likely to be reserved for the top DLX variant and would be the same unit that’s seen on the latest R15 models.

Currently, the FZ-X is priced between Rs 1.37 lakh-1.41 lakh and when the updated bike launches (which is likely to be at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo next week), you can expect a bump in price.

New colours for other FZ models

While the FZ-X will see some updates, it appears that the FZ-S is going to soldier on pretty much unchanged, except for some new colourways. One new colour that can be made out is a grey/cyan option, which is also seen on the MT-15 and MT-03.
