Yamaha NMAX Turbo: details, performance
The NMAX Turbo is a new model that's been equipped with an electric CVT gearbox that Yamaha claims provides better performance, and comes with two riding modes: T and S. While the T-Mode is meant to be used within city limits, the S-Mode is made for better acceleration and designed for the highway.
Additionally, it also has a “Turbo Y-Shift” feature that allows riders to fine-tune the acceleration and engine braking with three levels: low, medium and high. Yamaha has also provided safety features like traction control and dual-channel ABS.
The NMAX Turbo boasts of features such as LED projector headlight and tail-lamp, TFT instrument cluster with navigation, a smaller LCD speedometer and a smart key for keyless ignition. It is equipped with a 155cc motor that produces 15.6hp and 14.2Nm – slightly more than on the Aerox 155. For reference, the Aerox 155 is 45mm longer, 40mm narrower and 50mm shorter in height when compared to the NMAX Turbo. Yamaha has launched the NMAX Turbo only in Indonesia, and there is no news if it intends to bring the scooter or the electric-CVT gearbox tech to India.
