Ather is set to update its 450 Plus and 450X electric scooters with new colour options and what appears to be a revised seat that’s larger and more spacious on January 7. Currently, the Ather 450 duo is offered in three colours – Space Grey, Mint Green and White.

Ather 450 Plus, 450X to get four new colours, larger seat: details

Ather will introduce four new colours on the 450 range of scooters – Cosmic Black, Lunar Grey, Salt Green and Ravishing Red. It remains to be seen whether these colours will be sold alongside the three existing colour options.

Another update to the 450 Plus and 450X is what appears to be a larger, more spacious seat unit. The tight ergonomics have long been an area of concern for larger riders and this seat unit should go some way in resolving this issue. Though to truly solve it, the scooter’s overall dimensions will need to grow. It also remains to be seen whether this new unit can be retro-fitted to earlier models. Another issue we have found is the suspension setup on the Ather 450X is a tad too firm and it remains to be seen whether Ather addresses that issue as well. Ather will answer all these questions and more tomorrow, so watch this space for answers to the aforementioned questions and more.

It remains to be seen if Ather hikes the prices along with these updates to its electric scooters. A few months back, Ather brought out the updated 450X Gen 3 with a larger battery pack, a wider rear tyre and improved software, among other things. Currently, the 450 Plus costs Rs 1.17 lakh and the 450X will set you back by Rs 1.39 lakh.

That’s not all from the Bengaluru-based startup as later this year, Ather might take the wraps off an all-new cost-effective electric scooter that may sport simpler underpinnings, fewer features and a smaller battery pack.

All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi, inclusive of the FAME-II subsidy.
