Electric scooters are all the rage today and with every passing day, we hear of more new entrants in the electric two-wheeler marketplace. One of the latest start-ups to throw its hat in the ring soon is River, a Bengaluru-based EV start up. Spy images of the River EV have surfaced and it seems to be going in a different direction than most electric two-wheelers in the market.
- River's electric scooter gets crash guard, front footpegs, centre stand
- Front and rear disc brakes, CBS on offer
- Front apron and LED headlights resemble Yamaha Neo’s e-scooter
River electric scooter spotted testing: details
From these spy shots and the literature on the manufacturer’s website, the upcoming River electric scooter seems to be geared towards being a comfortable, commuter-friendly workhorse rather than a sporty machine. Aspects like the unusual front footpegs, which could be designed to allow you to position your feet naturally when the floorboard is loaded with luggage, and the large single-piece seat all reinforce this. The design of the front apron and the twin LED headlights seem very alike to the Yamaha Neo’s electric scooter.
The River EV seems to run on larger wheels (likely 14-inch units) than the 12-inch units normally seen in the e-scooter space. It gets a single disc brake at either end, with CBS. A simple LCD can be seen here but what is unusual to see on a commuter-friendly offering is the presence of a clip-on style handlebar. Although, the upper body position in the images appears to be more than amenable for daily duties. A centre stand is on offer here much like the Bajaj Chetak and more recently the Ola S1 Pro.
As of now, no details regarding the powertrain of the River e-scooter have been revealed.
