    BMW CE 02, launch details

Although the CE 02 will be manufactured at TVS’ Hosur plant, it is expected to carry a premium price tag. Internationally, the CE 02’s base variant costs $7,599 (approximately Rs 6.40 lakh) and the top variant $8,474 (approximately Rs 7 lakh), placing it well above TVS’ flagship e-scooter, the TVS X, made at the same Hosur plant. The TVS X has been on sale since last year and is available for Rs 2.49 lakh.

The CE 02 has two 1.96kWh removable batteries, which power an air-cooled synchronous motor that puts out 14.95hp at 5,000rpm and 54.91 Nm at 1,000rpm. It is worth noting these batteries are only removable for maintenance and not for charging at home or designed to be a part of a swappable battery system. BMW Motorrad claims the CE 02 weighs 131kg and can achieve a top speed of 95kph. It remains to be seen how the company will spec and price this EV for India.

In July, BMW launched the CE 04 at Rs 14.90 lakhthe most expensive electric two-wheeler currently on sale in India. The CE 04’s price is as steep as the premium motorcycles’, largely because it is a Completely Built Unit. The German company also sells the C 400 GT for Rs 11.25 lakh, making it the most expensive ICE scooter in the country.
