Royal Enfield’s upcoming Himalayan 450 has been spotted testing again, only this time in the UK. The test mule was spotted at a petrol station without any camouflage and it appeared to be close to production ready.

    • Gets a USD fork up front and a monoshock at the rear
    • Will get a liquid-cooled engine

    Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: details

The spy shot confirms a few things we already knew about the upcoming ADV, like it will feature an upside down fork at the front, a monoshock at the rear and wire spoke wheels, with the sizes likely to be 21-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear. However, the monoshock appears to be unusually long and is placed at quite an angle, which perhaps enables it to have a relatively lower seat height.

A radiator can also be seen mounted just ahead of the cylinder head, confirming that this bike will be liquid-cooled unlike RE’s other singles. A large, vertically oriented instrument cluster can also be seen in the image.

In comparison to the Himalayan 411, the Himalayan 450 appears to get a larger tank, a stubbier exhaust end can and a different tail section. However, RE doesn’t seem to have strayed too far in terms of the design because the 450 retains the oddball looks of the current Himalayan, which is adored by many customers.

Of other things, it is likely that the Himalayan 450 will come equipped with dual-channel ABS, LED lighting all around and maybe even a digital instrument cluster. Expect more details to come through in due course.

While the test mule did appear to be close to production ready, Royal Enfield is only likely to unveil the production-spec Himalayan 450 next year. And once launched, it will have to contend with the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and the Yezdi Adventure in our market.
