Phased reopening began from May 6
850 Royal Enfield dealerships and 425 studio stores now open
Online bookings and doorstep test rides introduced
Royal Enfield has announced the reopening of over 90 percent of its retail network across India. Over 850 dealerships and 425 studio stores are now open with strict safety protocols in place. The company had shut its dealerships in the last week of March 2020, after the nationwide lockdown was put into effect. The company has been steadily reopening its network from May 6, along with restarting production, as relaxations were allowed in certain areas.
Besides reopening its dealerships, Royal Enfield has also introduced contactless purchase and service facilities. Customers can choose a model on Royal Enfield's website and request for a test ride at their residence. If satisfied, they can book the motorcycle and make all the payments using electronic means. The dealership will also offer doorstep delivery if required.
Taking this initiative further, the bikemaker has also introduced a doorstep service facility. A trained technician, aboard a purpose-built motorcycle that is loaded with tools and spares, equipped to carry out 90 percent of service jobs, will visit customers who wish to get their motorcycle serviced at home. The purpose behind this is to promote social distancing and minimise overcrowding at service centres. Customers can also opt for pick-up and drop facilities if they wish to get their motorcycle serviced at the centre.
