The Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 was launched amid much fanfare at the 2018 Auto Expo at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, we saw another R15 at Yamaha's expo stall, but, it looked a bit different from the standard motorcycle. The bike displayed was equipped with optional accessories and racing kit. When we quizzed the Yamaha officials about the pricing for the accessories and the racing kit, we were told it would be shared in due course of time.
Now, the bike maker has shared the price list for the R15 Version 3.0 in Chennai. Accessories include a seat cover which has been priced at Rs 430, a tank pad that retails for Rs 225 and a skid plate to safeguard the exhaust while going over speed bumps that costs Rs 500. We particularly like the frame sliders that have been neatly integrated into the fairing and it has been priced reasonably at Rs 2,450. Yamaha also offers a USB connector for your phone, but its pricing hasn't been shared.
As part of the racing kit, you can choose a Metzeler for the rear and, surprisingly, Yamaha says it’s only for track use. Metzeler rubber, however, isn't offered at the front. The rear tyre is the Metzeler Sportec M5 140/70 R17 and has been priced at Rs 9,998, which we feel is on the higher side and you can source it for much cheaper through local tyre dealers. The Japanese two-wheeler giant also offers a Daytona muffler, which is again only for track use and carries a sticker price of Rs 16,700. The performance increment from the aftermarket exhaust hasn't been mentioned, but what is sure is that it will help in shedding weight as it’s a lot lighter than the standard exhaust.
