Shelby American is bringing back the legendary 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake. The company is planning a run of just 10 units of the fastback and completing what it calls the "unfinished business" of the muscle car's parents, Carroll Shelby and Don McCain. This is the company’s second continuation model run following the 1968 Shelby GT500KR which was launched earlier this year.

True to the original, the Super Snake packs a race-inspired, big-block 7.0-litre V8 from Carroll Shelby Engine Co., available in both aluminium and cast-iron blocks. This car makes 30hp more than the original at 550hp. The engine is mated to a four-speed manual transmission just like the original. The new continuation car will be built from original donor 1967 Mustangs and get a Shelby serial number for the official Shelby registry. The cars will be stripped down to bare metal before undergoing the makeover.

On the outside, the Shelby will have the iconic triple stripe design and period-correct components. Each of the 10 units will be built to order and feature a dash plaque with Carroll Shelby and Don McCain's signatures. In terms of pricing, it starts at USD 249,995 (Rs 1.7 crore).
