Hyundai has added a 1.4-litre petrol engine option to its Verna line-up. The 1,368cc motor, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, is expected to make 98.6hp and 134Nm of torque, and is the second petrol unit in the mid-size sedan's line-up, with the other one being the more powerful 1.6-litre option.
The starting price (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Verna 1.4 E variant is Rs 7.80 lakh. The better-equipped Verna 1.4 EX trim is priced at Rs 9.10 lakh.
The 1.4-litre engine in the Verna is the same unit seen in the i20 automatic. Hyundai, however, will soon discontinue this engine in the hatchback.

The base Verna 1.4 E comes with 15-inch steel wheels, dual airbags, ABS, tilt steering, power mirrors, a trip computer, a cooled glovebox, and a rear centre armrest. The Verna 1.4 EX additionally gets keyless entry, rear parking sensors, projector fog lamps, a front armrest, a 5.0-inch touchscreen system with four speakers, cruise control, rear AC vents and a driver’s seat height adjust as well.
