Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the latest-gen Captiva SUV. The model made its debut at a motor show in Bogota, Columbia, South America. Chevrolet sold previous-gen Captiva SUV in India from 2008 to 2016, until the end of the model’s life cycle. The new Captiva will soon be available in multiple international markets.

Measuring 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height (making it slightly smaller, yet taller than the previous model), the new Captiva is powered by a 147hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed automatic.

While the previous-gen Captiva was built together by Chevrolet and its partners in Korea, the next-gen model is actually based on the upcoming SUV from MG Motor India. Both models share many bits from the Baojun 530 SUV that is sold in China.

The Chevrolet Captiva gets the signature grille design with a prominent Chevrolet bowtie placed right at the centre. It gets 18-inch alloy wheels but does not come with a dual-tone exterior paint option. Apart from the aforementioned changes, the SUV is identical to the Baojun 530.

In India, parent company General Motors  has halted domestic sales and is currently using its facility in Talegoan, which has an annual capacity of 1,60,000 units, to churn out models like the Chevrolet Beat for export markets only. The brand also has a technical research centre in Bengaluru that is currently operational.
