What’s powering the Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift?
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder ‘K12N’ DualJet petrol engine, which replaces the outgoing car’s 1.2-litre ‘K12M’ motor. This new engine produces 90hp (7hp more than the engine it replaces) and 113Nm. Although it misses out on Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid system which features in the DualJet-powered Baleno, the Dzire does get idle stop-start tech, which helps maximise fuel economy. There is no diesel engine option with the Dzire facelift.
Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT), with the latter being offered with the K12N DualJet engine for the first time. Fuel efficiency for the Dzire facelift is rated at 23.26kpl for the manual version and 24.12kpl for the AMT version, according to ARAI.
The Dzire manual is the one to go for as it provides the better overall driving experience. However, if the majority of your driving is in stop-go traffic, you should opt for the AMT gearbox. It costs Rs 53,000 more than the manual but, it is more convenient to drive and more fuel efficient too.
What do you get in the Dzire LXi?
The base LXi, which can only be had with a manual gearbox, gets features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front seatbelt pretensioners, a manual AC, tilt-adjustable steering, a front power outlet, a multi-information display and 14-inch Steel wheels.
How well equipped is the Dzire VXi?
For Rs 90,000 more, you get the mid-spec Dzire VXi which, over the LXi’s features, gets kit like power windows, central locking with speed-sensitive door locks, faux wood interior trim, a 2-DIN audio system with USB, CD, AUX and Bluetooth compatibility, four speakers, steering-mounted controls, a rear AC vent, a rear centre armrest, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, adjustable front head rests, wheel covers and ESP with hill hold assist (AMT only).
What features does the Dzire ZXi get over the VXi?
Over the VXi, the Dzire ZXi variants get 15-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, front fog lamps, a rear defogger, tweeters for the audio system, keyless entry and go, automatic climate control, electrically foldable ORVMs and a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Dzire ZXi costs Rs 69,000 more than the VXi.
How feature-rich is the top-spec Dzire ZXi+?
The top-spec Dzire ZXi+ is loaded with features like automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs, diamond-cut 15-inch alloys, a rear parking camera, cruise control and a colour MID. However, all this comes at a significant premium of Rs 80,000 over the ZXi variant.
Which Maruti Suzuki Dzire variant should you pick?
The variant that provides the best balance between features and price is the ZXi. The Dzire ZXi variants cost only Rs 69,000 more than the VXi variants but they pack in much more kit like the 7-inch touchscreen, push button start with keyless entry, automatic climate control and electrically foldable ORVMs. The ZXi trims also get larger 185/65 R15 tyres compared to the VXi’s 165/80 R14. The larger surface area not only helps the Dzire handle better but also aids in braking.
However, if you’re not on a strict budget, you should go for the ZXi+ variant. Although it costs Rs 80,000 more than the ZXi, it gets all the premium features like the automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs, which helps you see the Dzire in its best light.
