Tata Safari Engine and gearboxes

There is just a single engine option on offer, Tata’s 170hp and 350Nm, 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that was launched in the Harrier last year. As on the Harrier, a 6-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard with select variants offered with the option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit.

Tata Safari rivals

The new Safari goes up against fellow three-row mid-size SUVs like the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500. The latter is set to be replaced by an all-new model later this year with Hyundai also set to join this space with a Creta-based 7-seater in the works.
