Maruti’s Brezza has always been a bestseller. This is something that is likely to remain unchanged with the introduction of the 2022 Maruti Brezza, a compact SUV that Maruti now is in the process of finalising and moving upmarket. To help do this, the 2022 Brezza will get an all-new look, new more upmarket cabin and a features list that's long enough to rival the likes of the Kia Sonet and the Hyundai Venue. Listed below are some key changes that are likely to give this bestseller a new lease of life.
2022 Maruti Brezza: new cabin will be a big step up
While the current Brezza’s cabin remains one of the largest and most comfortable in its class, and there’s a class-leading amount of space in the rear, the quality of the plastics and design of the dash aren’t exactly class leading. Maruti will address this weakness by giving the 2022 Brezza an all-new interior. This includes a new, higher quality dashboard, a new centre console, a new instrument panel and a new free standing touchscreen. Plastic quality is much improved, according to insiders, the new touchscreen gets an on-board SIM and connected tech, and the 2022 Brezza also gets Swift's Maruti’s new flat-bottom steering wheel.
2022 Maruti Brezza: could be as feature rich as the Sonet or Venue
Along with the new, more upmarket cabin will come new, more upmarket features. The 2022 Brezza will be one of the first Marutis to get a sunroof, something buyers in this segment place great emphasis on. It will get paddle shifters for the automatic gearbox and features like wireless changing, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also likely to be part of the list. In addition, the SIM-based app will provide all manner of connected features like Geofencing, real-time tracking, find your car, intrusion detection, tow away alert and SOS or assistance alert, in case you or your car need help. While it isn’t clear if the new Brezza will get remote start, cooled seats and a digital instrument panel on higher versions, what’s clear is that the big features gap to the competition will now either be non-existent or minimal.
2022 Maruti Brezza: will come at a higher price
Along with the updated interior, the new 2022 Brezza will also get a richer, more upmarket look. This, along with the new features list, will allow Maruti to take the price of the new Brezza higher. Prices are expected to start around Rs 8 lakh, with the fully loaded automatic going as high as Rs 12.5 lakh or even beyond. This is likely to distance the Brezza from the lower-half of the compact SUV market that currently houses Maruti’s own Ignis, the Renault Kiger, Nissan’s Magnite and the new Tata Punch.
2022 Maruti Brezza: could retain its good crash test rating
Built on the Suzuki Global C platform, the robust Brezza has always done well when it comes to crash test ratings. Global NCAP, in fact, gave the Maruti a high score of four out of five and not only mentioned that the Brezza’s body shell was robust, but that it could take even further loads. A higher airbag count, reinforced structures behind the new dash, and the introduction of stability control could take it up further.
