Mahindra’s all-new Scorpio has been spied testing again but the new images show key design details that weren't seen previously. While the first set of spy shots had shown that the new Scorpio will get an upright nose and grille along with a new front bumper design (to meet upcoming pedestrian safety norms), these new images confirm a well-contoured bonnet, a criss-cross pattern for the grille, a more sharply raked front windshield and the larger doors to better fit the longer wheelbase. The extended wheelbase means that the next-gen Scorpio is expected to have a roomier cabin.

The new images also show that the rear bumper is thicker than the current model’s and the boot can be accessed via a side-hinged door, confirmed by the handle on the left side. Mahindra's North American Technical Centre in Detroit, United States, where the new SUV was conceptualised, has made sure that the new Scorpio retains the outgoing model’s muscular and SUV-like overall design.

set of interior spy shots told us that the next-gen Scorpio (codename: Z101) will come with a new dashboard that is capable of housing a large touchscreen infotainment system. But whether Mahindra will equip the new Scorpio with the Alturas G4’s 8.0-inch infotainment system or the 7.0-inch unit from the XUV300 and Marazzo is still unknown. The images also showed that the Scorpio and the Marazzo are expected to share quite a few interior bits – from the instrument cluster to the steering wheel and control stalks. Recent government norms will also see all variants of the next-gen Scorpio getting forward-facing seats for all three rows.

Mahindra is expected to showcase the all-new Scorpio at the 2020 Auto Expo, before it makes its way to showrooms. When it arrives in India, the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio will rival the upcoming seven-seat version of the MG Hector and Tata Harrier (showcased as the Buzzard at the 2019 Geneva motor show), along with other SUVs like the upcoming Ford and Maruti Suzuki models.
