Amidst the large and shiny metal at MG’s pavilion at Auto Expo was the small and quiet MG E200. Designed for congested urban cities, the compact 3-door runabout is a concept for personal mobility. The 2-seat EV is just 2,488mm long (that's 676mm shorter than a Tata Nano), 1,506mm wide, 1,617mm tall, and weighs around 800kg.
The E200 uses a 29kW (39hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor that can propel the car to a top speed of 100kph. Care has been taken to make the motor as ‘quiet as a library’, officials say. Power comes from a lithium-ion battery pack, and MG says that a 210km range on a single charge is possible.
The E200 comes with LED lights, a multi-function steering wheel, a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, ABS, EBD multiple airbags and a few more features.
The MG E200 EV is currently sold only in the Chinese market in a left-hand-drive configuration. MG Motor is currently gathering customer feedback ahead of deciding for an India.
