Lexus has showcased two concepts – the LF-30 and LF-Z EVs – at its pavilion at Auto Expo 2023. Both LF-30 Electrified and LF-Z Electrified get all-wheel-drive systems, but while the former has a dual-motor set-up, the latter gets four in-wheel motors.

  1. Both concepts get AWD system
  2. WLTP range of LF-30 is 500km and LF-Z is 600km

Lexus LF-30 Electrified: what is it?

A radical concept by Lexus, the interior of the LF-30 is based on Lexus’ concept of Tazuna, which is essentially creating a space that enables the driver to focus on driving while controlling various functions, without having to shift their focus from the road. The front passenger is said to mimic a first-class seat on an airline. The rear seats use something called artificial muscle technology that is said to mould the seats according to the passengers.

The LF-30 also features a Mark Levinson sound system that has speakers built into the headrests and gets a noise cancellation feature. Furthermore, the glass roof above the seats get voice and gesture control to change the information being displayed on the AR-powered SkyGate display.

Powering the LF-30 concept are four electric motors – one on each wheel – and combined, it produces 544hp and 700Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve a top speed of 200kph and go 0-100kph in 3.8sec (claimed). The LF-30 has a 110kWh battery, which can be charged using a 150kW charger, and has a WLTP-rated range of 500km. Interestingly, the Lexus LF-30 is also capable of charging wireless

Lexus LF-Z Electrified: the details

The other concept car on display was the LF-Z Electrified, which also incorporates Lexus’ Tazuna concept. It uses AI to learn the driver’s preferences and behaviour to personalise audio playback, navigation and drive mode selection. Like the LF-30 EV, the LF-Z also gets a Mark Levinson sound system with noise-cancellation technology. Furthermore, it also gets a digital key feature that allows users to share the car without having to physically exchange keys.

Under the hood, so to speak, the LF-Z is powered by dual electric motors producing 544hp and 700Nm of torque. Lexus is capable of a top speed of 200kph and a 0-100kph time of 3sec. The 90kWh battery is capable of a range of 600km (WLTP-cycle) and can be charged using a 150kW charger.
