Carmakers like Datsun, Hyundai and Ford are offering significant discounts as they are looking to sell unsold inventory of their smaller hatchbacks (Go, Eon and Figo, respectively) before their replacements are introduced during the festive season. Maruti Suzuki dealers are hoping to keep sales figures high by offering discounts and benefits on a variety of hatchbacks from its line-up.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
Save up to Rs 1 lakh
The practical WagonR is available at discounts and benefits of up to Rs 1 lakh for the AMT-equipped model. Top-spec trims get a unique front fascia (and benefits of up to Rs 75,000), which helps differentiate them from the taxi-spec variants. CNG variants of the WagonR come at a lower discount slab, depending on availability.
Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
Save up to Rs 85,000
Maruti Suzuki’s urban runabout and rival to the Datsun Redigo 1.0 and Renault Kwid 1.0 is powered by the peppy 1.0-litre engine (shared with the WagonR and Celerio) and also gets the option of a 5-speed AMT. Dealers are now offering discounts and benefits of up to Rs 85,000 on the automatic variants, and up to Rs 75,000 on the manual gearbox trims.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio
Save up to Rs 85,000
The Celerio comes in two different body styles – the standard hatchback (rivals the Tata Tiago) and the slightly beefier cross-hatch called the CelerioX (competition includes Tata Tiago NRG). Under the bonnet both have the 1.0-litre K series petrol motor and manual and AMT gearboxes. Customers can now avail discounts and benefits up to Rs 85,000 on the Celerio and CelerioX at select dealerships.
Hyundai Eon
Save up to Rs 75,000
The Eon will be replaced by the all-new AH2 tall boy hatchback on October 23. Therefore, in a bid to clear stocks, dealers are offering discounts of around Rs 75,000 at most outlets. The Eon 1.0 is the model to go for as the 800cc one feels underpowered in comparison. The hatchback comes with decent cabin room but trumps on interior quality, and fit and finish.
Pre-update 2018 Honda Jazz
Save up to Rs 75,000
With the launch of the updated Jazz, Honda dealers are offering discounts in the range of Rs 75,000 on unsold stocks. The car comes with a spacious cabin, a peppy 1.5-litre petrol and a decent diesel engine. There is no diesel-auto on offer but the petrol variant comes with a CVT option as well, though not in top-spec trim as on the facelift version. Apart from the discount there is another interesting reason to consider the older car – top-spec trims come with the ‘Magic Seat’ folding function.
Mahindra KUV100 NXT
Save up to Rs 75,000
Mahindra’s SUV-esque KUV100 NXT directly takes on the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Powering the cross-hatch is an 84hp, 1.2-litre petrol motor and a 78hp, 1.2-litre diesel engine, both of which are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The highlight of the KUV100 NXT is that it comes with a six-seat configuration as well. Mahindra dealers are currently offering benefits of up to Rs 75,000 on the petrol and diesel models.
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800
Save up to Rs 65,000
Maruti Suzuki’s most sold model in India can currently be bought with discounts and benefits of up to Rs 65,000. The smallest car in the Japanese brand’s portfolio comes with a 48hp, 796cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that comes mated exclusively to a 5-speed manual. The Alto 800 sees competition from the likes of the 800cc Redigo and Kwid.
Ford Figo
Save up to Rs 65,000
Ford is expected to bring the Figo facelift to our market this year, but only after the updated Aspire compact sedan is launched. In a bid to clear stocks of the older model, most Ford dealerships are now offering discounts in the range of Rs 50,000. The current Figo comes with three engine options – an 88hp, 1.2-litre petrol a 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 112hp, 1.5-litre petrol. The first two motors are mated to a 5-speed manual, while the latter is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 rival comes with a decent features list.
Hyundai Grand i10
Save up to Rs 65,000
In a bid to keep the slowly aging Grand i10 on par with newer rivals like the third-gen Swift and the upcoming Figo facelift, buyers of the hatchback can now avail discounts and benefits of up to Rs 65,000 at select Hyundai dealerships. The Grand i10 is available with an 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 71hp, 1.2-litre diesel engine, both of which are mated to a 5-speed manual. The petrol also comes with the option of a 4-speed automatic.
Datsun Go
Save up to Rs 50,000
Datsun is expected to bring the Go facelift to India sometime this month, which explains why the Japanese brand’s dealers are now offering benefits of up to Rs 50,000 on the hatchback. The on-sale model is powered by a strong 68hp, 1.2-litre engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual. While it is spacious on the inside, the lack of creature comforts marks the Go down in its segment.
Datsun Redigo
Save up to Rs 50,000
In addition to introducing a limited-run special edition model to bump up sales figures during the festive season, Datsun is also offering benefits and discounts of up to Rs 50,000 on the hatchback. The rival to the Renault Kwid is available with a 54hp, 0.8-litre petrol and a 68hp, 1.0-litre engine. The former gets a 5-speed manual as standard while the latter gets 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Save up to Rs 40,000
The all-new Swift has been selling quite decently but Maruti Suzuki dealerships are still offering discounts and benefits of up to Rs 40,000 on the hatchback in the run up to the festive season. The competitor to Hyundai’s Grand i10 gets an 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and the 75hp, 1.3-litre diesel engine. Both motors come with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options. The brand recently introduced the AMT-equipped model in the top-spec Z+ trims as well.
