Images revealing the BMW 8-series concept have surfaced online ahead of its official debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The leaked images show that the car will retain the two-door coupé layout of its spiritual predecessor, which bore the same name when it was launched internationally in 1989.
No technical information has been revealed with the leak, but the concept will influence a production model that’s due for launch in international markets next year. Recent trademarks suggest a high-performance M8 model will follow soon after.
The car is expected to be built on BMW’s Cluster Architecture (CLAR) underpinnings, which are shared with the 5-series and 7-series. It could be offered with a 609hp, 6.6-litre V12 engine at the top of the range.
The production 8-series model is planned to be a technological flagship with driveline components, multi-material architecture, and electrical system and connectivity solutions closely related to those used by the current sixth-generation 7-series.
More information will be released when the car makes its public debut near Lake Como in Italy.
