BMW has launched the M340i facelift at Rs 69.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The updated performance version of the 3 Series sedan now comes with a 48V mild-hybrid technology that has a maximum output of 11hp.

BMW M340i facelift: what’s new?
The BMW 3 Series facelift made its global debut earlier this year and comes with a refreshed design. It features slimmer headlamps, a resculpted grille, and a redesigned rear bumper. The new M340i also wears new 19-inch alloy wheels, a size up from the outgoing M340i, and gets a fixed rear wing as an option.
On the inside, the BMW M340i now sports a freestanding curved instrument panel that houses a 14.9-inch curved touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which run BMW’s eighth-generation iDrive interface.

The M340i continues to be powered by a 3.0-litre, inline-six turbocharged petrol engine, but it is now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and produces 374hp and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In comparison, the outgoing pre-facelift M340i produced 387hp and 500Nm of torque but didn’t get a mild-hybrid system. Like the outgoing model, the new one can also sprint from 0-100kph in a claimed 4.4sec.
BMW also mentioned that the M340i will have the first high-performance engine that will be made in India. It also features some mechanical upgrades over the standard 3 Series, such as a lowered, M-specific suspension, an M Sport differential, M Sport brakes and an M Sport exhaust.

The M340i currently has only one direct rival in its segment – the Audi S5 Sportback. It can also be compared to the electric BMW i4 which, at Rs 69.90 lakh, is priced only Rs 70,000 more. Along with this, BMW has also launched the XM SUV and the S 1000 RR superbike.
