At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015, BMW has given people a look at its newest innovations that could debut in the brand’s new 7-series. The new-generation of BMW’s luxury limousine is expected in India and other global markets in 2016.
Firstly, BMW showcased a prototype iDrive system. It has a touchscreen instead of the standard controller. It works as a virtual keyboard, and also has gesture recognition technology. The roof-mounted sensor detects hand gestures in the region between the steering, gear shaft and the touchscreen. It understands movements like tapping, pinching, swiping and finger rotations.
Along with the iDrive, BMW also showed off the TouchCommand rear seat control system. It is basically a Samsung tablet with a specific app from BMW. This TouchCommand tech gives rear passengers control of practically everything, at their fingertips. They can adjust and control things like the AC, infotainment system and the seats itself.
