BMW will launch the new facelifted X3 in India on August 28. The new BMW X3 made its global debut at the 2014 Geneva motor show. The facelift will majorly offer cosmetic updates but very few mechanical changes. The current car has been in India since 2011.

The front fascia of the new X3 gets BMW’s new design language. The headlamp assembly is larger and the kidney-grille is more prominent, on the lines of the larger X5. The new facelift also gets restyled bumpers, new tail-lamps and new alloys.

On the inside, the centre console gets glossy treatment and new upholstery. The bootlid of the new X3 gets electric-opening function. Overall silhouette and stance of the car remain unchanged.

The new X3 retains the engines from the current car. It is powered by 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre diesel motors. The 2.0-litre unit currently makes 184bhp, but is expected to be tweaked to deliver slightly more power in the new car. The bigger engine remains unchanged.

The new X3 will continue to be assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant.
