Following the launch of the BS6-compliant petrol Baleno, Maruti has now included the new Wagon R in its BS6 portfolio. The carmaker's tallboy hatchback now comes with a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol motor, with prices starting at Rs 5.10 lakh and going up to Rs 5.91 lakh.
As before, the BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol too is available in the VXi and ZXi trim levels and can be mated to either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Prior to the BS6 upgrade, the Wagon R 1.2 was priced between Rs 4.89 lakh and Rs 5.70 lakh.
Aside from the update to the Wagon R 1.2, Maruti has also revised the pricing for the 1.0-litre engine equipped model. Previously priced from Rs 4.20 lakh to Rs 5.23 lakh, the Wagon R 1.0 is now priced from Rs 4.34 lakh to Rs 5.33 lakh.
The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder motor is offered in the base LXi and mid-spec VXi trims and, like with the larger petrol motor, can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. However, unlike the 1.2-litre unit, the 1.0-litre unit has not been upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms.
As per Maruti, the Wagon R was launched earlier in the year at an introductory price, with the revision in pricing coinciding with the launch of the BS6-compliant model.
Aside from the updates and revisions to the Wagon R, Maruti has also introduced its BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine in the Swift and given it additional safety kit to meet the new mandatory safety norms.
The carmaker also re-introduced a CNG variant on the updated Alto that was launched earlier this year.
