An updated, BS6-compliant Honda Jazz has just been teased on the Japanese carmaker’s India website. The teaser shows a darkened image of the new Jazz, though a few design details - like the grille, wheels and body-lines - are visible.

From this teaser, it appears that the exterior will remain largely unchanged in the switch to BS6, as the wheels headlight and grille look near identical to that of the BS4 model. There is, however, a possibility of the bumper design being slightly tweaked.

On the engine front, we expect Honda to equip the premium hatchback with BS6-compliant version of its current 1.2-litre petrol engine, which should continue to produce 90hp and 110Nm of torque. The 100hp/200Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine will also be upgraded to meet the new emission requirements. Gearbox options on offer with the BS6 Jazz will be similar to that of the recently updated Amaze compact sedan, as both engines will come paired to a 5-speed manual unit, while the 1.2-litre petrol will also continue to get a CVT automatic gearbox. The Amaze’s diesel-CVT combination could also make it to the new Jazz.

No major changes are expected to either the interior design or the equipment list of the Jazz. The top-spec Jazz will continue to feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electrically adjustable and folding wing mirrors with indicators, automatic climate control and more.

When BS6 Jazz prices are revealed, it'll be interesting to see how it'll compare to other premium hatchbacks such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20, considering it was priced on the higher side of the segment in BS4 form (Rs 7.45-9.41 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi).
