While we know Tata Motors had upgraded the Nexon with BS6-compliant engine with the facelift, the brand has silently also added more power to its 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Now making 120hp (up 10hp) at 5,500rpm and the same 170Nm of torque at 1,750-4,000rpm as before, the Nexon is now Tata’s most powerful petrol model, eclipsing the Tiago and Tigor JTP by a 6hp margin.

The 1.2-litre Revotron engine still comes mated to the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox options. The update means the Nexon petrol now matches the BS6 Hyundai Venue 1.0 on the power front. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine in the Hyundai makes 120hp and 172Nm of peak torque. The Ford EcoSport, with its 123hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, is still the most powerful petrol compact SUV today, but the turbo-petrol engines of the Nexon and Venue produce 20Nm more torque.

Interestingly, the upgrade to BS6-compliance also saw the ARAI mileage of the Nexon petrol-manual and diesel-manual increase by 0.4kpl and 0.9kpl, to 17.4kpl and 22.4kpl, respectively.

Tata Nexon prices are now ex-showroom, pan-India, with the petrol range priced between Rs 6.95-11.20 lakh and Nexon diesel prices ranging from Rs 8.45 lakh to Rs 12.70 lakh. For a complete variant-wise break-up, click here.
