The Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV has been garnering increasing interest in the brand, say dealers. Deliveries for the top two variants of the Basalt have commenced, with dealers telling us that deliveries of the entry-level You variant – that's seeing a lower production rate – will begin from October 2024 onwards. At the moment, all variants have an average waiting period of around one month.
- 50 percent Max buyers opting for automatic gearbox
- Polar White and Garnet Red are popular colour choices
The Basalt gets two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit for the lower trims and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol for the higher variants. The top two variants can be had with a six-speed torque convertor, and dealers tell us that almost half of the buyers are opting for the automatic. A 70:30 split is being observed for engine choices, with the naturally aspirated unit accounting for 30 percent.
As far as variant choices go, around 60 percent of the buyers are opting for the top-spec Max trim, which comes with features like 16-inch alloys, semi-leatherette upholstery, auto climate control and a rear-view camera. This is despite the base variant having an aggressive starting price of just Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). As far as paint options go, we are told that Polar White and Garnet Red are the most sought after choices on the Citoren Basalt.
