Maruti will replace the current first-gen Ertiga with an all-new model that will see a market introduction on November 21, 2018. The outgoing model has been on sale since April 2012 and received a mid-cycle update in October 2015. There were speculations about the model being renamed and sold as a fleet-vehicle; however, sources at Maruti have confirmed to us that the first-gen model will completely discontinued once the new Ertiga hits the showrooms.
Maruti has sold approximately 4.2 lakh units of the first-gen Ertiga since its market launch back in April 2012. Since its launch, the first-gen Ertiga has available with 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine options. Maruti added a 4-speed automatic option to the petrol-powered Ertiga a little later. The Ertiga has been a popular choice for mid-size budget MPV buyers in a segment that also includes models like the Honda BR-V, the Renault Lodgy and the recently launched Mahindra Marazzo.
Maruti will continue to sell the new Ertiga via the brand’s standard Arena dealerships as opposed to the rumoured shift to its Nexa retail chain. Expect Maruti to officially commence bookings for the new Ertiga soon.
