Ford has just unveiled production versions of the new Figo Aspire compact sedan, and has started production at its brand new Sanand plant in Gujarat.
The Ford Figo Aspire will be powered by the new 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre DV5 turbo-diesel engine. The Ford Figo Aspire will also get a 1.5-litre petrol motor mated to a six-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox. The carmaker has already started testing the new Figo in both, hatchback and compact sedan forms in India.

Ford’s new Sanand plant has a production capacity of 2,40,000 units and 2,70,000 engines per year, for both domestic and export markets. The new assembly plant is fully integrated to support stamping, body assembly, paint, trim and final assembly. The paint shop will utilise Ford’s environment-friendly rotational dip technology and 3-Wet technology paint processes that will further improve paint quality and durability.
Ford also claims that it will reduce the levels of Volatile Organic Compounds, CO2 emissions and waste.
