UPDATE: 2019 Ford Figo facelift variants explained
Ahead of its March 15 launch date, Ford dealers have begun accepting bookings for the Figo facelift. The booking amount for the hatchback is set at Rs 10,000. The Figo will get two new engine options and an updated interior as a part of its mid-cycle refresh.
As a part of the facelift, the Figo will get revised front and rear bumpers, a honeycomb front grille, tweaked headlights and new alloy wheels. The cabin is likely to feature new upholstery and Ford’s Sync3 infotainment system with a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
In terms of safety, the refreshed Figo is expected to get dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a speed-alert system and seat-belt reminders as standard across the range. The top-spec trim is likely to feature four additional airbags, as seen with the refreshed Aspire and the Freestyle cross-hatch.
The Figo facelift will feature the same engine-gearbox combinations seen on the Aspire facelift. There are two new petrol engines on offer – a 96hp, 1.2-litre motor and a 123hp, 1.5-litre mill. The 1.2-litre unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only, while the 1.5-litre comes coupled to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox only. The 100hp/215Nm, 1.5-litre diesel engine will be carried over from the previous model and will send power to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
While there is no official word on the variants it will be offered in, spy shots have emerged of a new ‘Blu’ trim of the Figo. This variant will feature a glossy-black finish for the front grille, mirror caps and roof. Additionally, it will also get blacked-out alloy wheels and black decals on the side and boot lip. This variant may feature different upholstery for the interior, as well.
Ford priced the refreshed Aspire and Endeavour a bit under their outgoing models and so we expect the same with the Figo facelift. Key rivals to the Ford are the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Volkswagen Polo.
