Ford has updated its Freestyle cross-hatch by offering a few minor changes, including a new exterior paint shade called ‘Ruby Red’. The updated car will also get body coloured ORVMs as standard across the range along with adjustable rear headrests, which were not part of the equipment when the car was launched in April 2018.
The Freestyle gets Ford’s new naturally aspirated, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which makes 96hp and 120Nm of torque and the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TDCi diesel motor that puts out 100hp and 215Nm of torque. Both engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
These additions to the Freestyle have seen prices of the base trim increase by about Rs 20,000. The cross-hatch is now priced from Rs 5.23 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Ford Freestyle competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Tata Tiago NRG.
Besides updating the Freestyle to cash in on the festive season, Ford will also launch the facelift for its compact sedan, the Aspire, on October 4. The new model will share quite a lot with the Freestyle in terms of design and equipment, along with its powertrain.
