Honda is readying the launch of the Amaze facelift in India, which will take place by August 17, 2021. The compact sedan will get a tweaked exterior and interior, along with more features with this mid-cycle update. Currently, the Honda Amaze is the carmaker’s most popular model here. It is manufactured only in India and exported to a few international markets.

Honda Amaze facelift: what’s new?

Since this is a mid-cycle refresh and not an all-new model, expect only slight tweaks over the outgoing car instead of a complete overhaul. While Honda is not known for changing a lot of things on their models in between generations, you can expect the Amaze facelift to look fresh.

On the exterior, the Honda Amaze facelift is likely to get new full-LED headlamps, new design for the alloy wheels and reworked bumpers. Honda may also introduce new paint shades. Inside the cabin, expect to see new fabric upholstery for the seats, new interior trim pieces and more features. Also expect to see more features as standard on lower variants of the Amaze facelift.

Honda Amaze facelift: engine and gearbox

The Amaze facelift is expected to carry forward the engine and gearbox options of its predecessor. It will come with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that makes 90hp and 110Nm of torque. The petrol engine will come with the option of either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

The diesel engine, meanwhile, is a 1.5-litre unit that puts out 100hp and 200Nm when paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and 80hp and 160Nm of torque when coupled with a CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel-CVT combination of the Amaze is unique and is not on offer with any of its competitors.

Honda Amaze facelift: competition

The Honda Amaze facelift will rival other compact sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire.

Honda in India

Presently, Honda India retails the City and Amaze sedans, the Jazz hatchback, and the WR-V compact crossover.

Honda is also readying the launch of the City hybrid in India this year, but a launch timeframe for that model is yet to be revealed. Going forward, Honda is planning to introduce an all-new midsize SUV based on the City’s platform by 2023. This new SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Tata Harrier when launched.
