Honda’s sub-four-metre saloon, the Amaze, has been a strong seller ever since its launch in April. In fact, the carmaker dispatched 7,598 Amaze saloons in the month of November 2013, a figure that comprised the majority of Honda’s sales for the month.
And now, after Honda introduced an additional shift at its Greater Noida facility November onwards, the compact saloon’s waiting period has dropped from three to four months to just five to seven working days for both the petrol and diesel variants. We made a few calls to Honda dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi and found out that the Amaze is readily available in most colours in both petrol and diesel guise. Only the base E and EX models (petrol and diesel) have a slightly longer waiting period of 15-20 working days.
The Honda Amaze comes with two engine options, a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that puts out 86.8bhp and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel that puts out 98.6bhp. Its competition is the Suzuki Swift Dzire, the Chevrolet Sail saloon, Fiat Linea Classic and the Ford Fiesta Classic. Prices for the Honda Amaze start at Rs 5.15 lakh for the base 1.2 E M/T petrol, while the top-spec Amaze diesel VX M/T diesel costs Rs 7.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
