Honda has announced a recall for diesel models of its popular City mid-sized sedan and Mobilio MPV to replace the fuel return pipe and other related parts. The recall will cover 64,428 units of the diesel City manufactured between December 2013 and July 2015, and 25,782 units of diesel variants of the Mobilio manufactured from June 2014 to July 2015.
The manufacturer said that the faulty fuel return pipe used in sending unused diesel back to the fuel tank could fall off at anytime resulting in a fuel leak and leading to engine stoppage.
The replacement of the faulty part will be done for free at authorised Honda dealerships across the country from December 19 in a phased manner. Honda will contact owners personally to inform them of the recall on their vehicles. Owners can also check if their car is part of this recall by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a special microsite which has been created on the company’s website.
In October this year, Honda had issued a recall of the City CVT to optimise hydraulic pressure in the CVT gearbox to prevent instances of wheel lockup or loss of power to the wheels.
