Honda has introduced a special warranty program for all models in its stable here, in the Indian market, in an attempt to enhance its customers' ownership experience. Dubbed ‘Anytime Warranty’, the scheme allows vehicle warranty to be extended up to a maximum of 10 years/1,20,000km, using discrete packs, each of which gives a coverage of 1 year/20,000km at a time.
Honda owners can buy into the program so long as the vehicle age is less than 10 years from the date the policy starts and its odometer reading is less than 1,20,000km. Also, as the name suggests, customers can avail the facility ‘anytime’; even after the expiry of the vehicle’s standard and extended warranties.
The automaker’s existing range – including the City, Amaze, Civic, Jazz, WR-V, BR-V, CR-V, Brio and Accord Hybrid, as well as the now discontinued Mobilio – is covered under this warranty program. Moreover, the facility can be availed at any Honda authorised dealer across the country, and is also transferrable to a new owner if the vehicle is sold and purchased.
The stipulated fee for 'Anytime Warranty' is incumbent upon the model, powertrain and year of vehicle ownership. For instance, the company quotes a customer price of Rs 8,739 for the sixth year coverage of a City petrol sedan that is still in its standard/extended warranty period and Rs 14,619 for the tenth year warranty protection. For a City diesel, the same figures stand at Rs 11,548 and Rs 19,320, respectively. The fee will be higher still, if 'Anytime Warranty' is being subscribed for after expiration of the vehicle’s standard/extended warranty. For reference, most models in Honda’s current range are being offered with a 3 year/unlimited kilometre warranty straight off the production line with an optional extended coverage for two more years.
Honda is not the only automaker in the industry to extend such services. French manufacturer Renault is offering a similar program to extending its warranty up to 7 years for its entire available vehicle range in India.
