Hyundai Creta EV: what do the spy shots suggest?
The spy shots show the current-gen Creta with a protrusion under the body that clearly looks like an EV battery pack. The fact that the vehicle was seen very close to an EV charging station further confirms that this prototype was indeed an EV based on the Creta. There are no details as yet on the electric powertrain or battery pack that Hyundai plans to use on the production version of the Creta EV.
Hyundai Creta EV: India launch timeline
Hyundai is expected to introduce the Creta EV in the Indian market sometime in 2025, and until then, the Ioniq 5 and the Kona EV will be the only models on sale. Hyundai will also completely localise the E-GMP platform, which will be used for India and global markets.
Upon launch, the Creta EV could compete with the likes of the Maruti eVX EV SUV and the Seltos EV, among others. According to sources, the Creta EV may be priced between Rs 15 lakh-30 lakh upon launch.
Upcoming Hyundai SUV, car launches
Hyundai will be launching its all-new Verna on March 21 that will be powered by the new 1.5-litre turbo and naturally aspirated petrol engines. The new turbo-petrol engine will also do duty on most Hyundai-Kia models in India like the Creta, Seltos and Carens, replacing the existing 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit. The brand has also announced that it plans to introduce six electric vehicles for India by 2028.
