Shortly after upgrading its entire car, SUV line-up to the recently enforced BS6 Phase II emissions norms, Hyundai India has now released another update for some of its models. However, this time around, it has added safety equipment in the Creta, Venue and the i20 hatchback.

Hyundai Creta gets the most feature updates
Hyundai's popular midsize SUV, the Creta, is now available with either a 1.5-litre diesel or a 1.5-litre petrol engine post the RDE update. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine has been discontinued and will be replaced by the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol from the Verna.
Additionally, three-point seatbelts are now standard across all seats on the Creta, with the rear seats getting adjustable headrests and 60:40 split seats. For those who prefer lounging in the back seat of the Creta, Hyundai has given a 2-step recline option. These updates are across all variants of the SUV.
Hyundai i20, Venue get three-point seatbelts, adjustable headrests
The Hyundai i20, since its launch in 2009, has offered great performance, comfort and safety, which is the reason why Indian consumers lapped it up in no time. In the latest update, Hyundai has fit 3-point seat belts on all seats, along with adjustable headrests at the rear. Once again, these updates are standard across all variants.
The Hyundai Venue sits below the Creta in the carmaker's line-up and is a relatively new model. The carmaker had also given it the N-line treatment last year. Just like the Creta, the Venue's updates are also restricted to the rear seats. Three-point seat belts across all front-facing seats, 60:40 split rear seats, 2-step reclining seats and adjustable rear headrests are now standard across all models.
Safety updates done ahead of October 2023 deadline
The Indian government has been pushing for stricter safety standards in cars, including a standardised crash test rating for all cars sold in India, making six airbags mandatory on all cars and SUVs, and making three point seat belts compulsory. This rule is expected to be enforced from October 2023.
