Hyundai has released a first set of images of the heavily updated Elantra sedan that will see a market launch in India on October 3, 2019. The company has also officially announced that bookings for the new sedan have now commenced at all Hyundai dealerships in the country.
The updated Elantra gets the brand’s signature ‘cascading grille’ and reshaped headlamps with LED DRLs, a toned, muscular looking bonnet, triangular fog lamps and new-design alloy wheels. The updated rear gets a re-profiled bumper and new-look wraparound tail-lights that extend further on to the boot lid.
On the inside, the new Elantra gets even more equipment, including Hyundai’s new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) that will come as standard. Additionally, it will continue to be offered with dual-zone climate control, cooled front seats, a tyre pressure monitoring system and leather upholstery. The refreshed Elantra will continue to be sold with six airbags, ABS with EBD and vehicle stability control, and more.
As reported by us earlier, the updated Elantra will come only with a petrol engine in the form of a BS6-compliant 152hp, 2.0-litre unit mated to either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission.
Key rivals to the refreshed Elantra will be the Toyota Corolla Altis, Honda Civic and the Skoda Octavia. Expect more details on the new Elantra to surface closer to its October 3 launch.
