Shortly after the Tucson facelift was spied undisguised, Hyundai has officially revealed the updated SUV. We can confirm that Hyundai will bring the facelifted model to India next year; the current-gen Tucson launched here in August 2022.

  1. Refreshed Tucson gets minor styling tweaks
  2. Interior sees some ergonomic upgrades
  3. No powertrain changes announced

Hyundai Tucson facelift: exterior and interior

Hyundai says the Tucson facelift has a "more refined" aesthetic that brings it in line with the brand's new Parametric Dynamics design language, as seen on the latest-gen Kona (not on sale in India) and the all-new Santa Fe SUV, which made its global debut earlier this year.

The Tucson facelift features a redesigned front grille, skid plates at the front and rear to emphasise its width, slightly restyled headlights and a new alloy wheel design.

On the inside, the infotainment touchscreen and driver's display are now integrated into a slick, curved one-piece panel behind a new-look steering wheel that has a much cleaner design. Additionally, the centre console has been tidied up and there's a new haptic control stack for various functions, but physical heater dials make a return in a bid for enhanced usability on the move. The slimmer centre stack has also made room for a larger storage space in front of the centre console.

Hyundai Tucson facelift: powertrain options

As far as the powertrain goes, there aren’t any changes expected, which means the Tucson will continue with its existing powertrain options, depending on the market. In India, the Tucson gets 2.0-litre petrol as well as diesel engines.

The petrol engine is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit that also used to see duty on the Alcazar, producing 156hp and 192Nm of torque, and is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This engine has now been replaced by a 1.5-litre, 160hp turbo-petrol engine on the Alcazar, so it remains to be seen whether Hyundai continues to offer it on the Tucson facelift for our market.

Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine churns out 186hp and 416Nm of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There is no manual gearbox on offer, but the SUV comes with AWD with multi-terrain modes (Snow, Mud and Sand) as an option on the top diesel variant.

Hyundai Tucson facelift: India launch details

In India, the Tucson rivals the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. Expect more details on the updated SUV for India to be revealed when it goes on sale in our market next year.
