Hyundai India is gearing up for one of its important launches for this year – the refreshed Hyundai Venue, which will see a market introduction by early May this year. The updated Venue compact SUV is currently in its final stages of testing in India. The Venue is, of course, a global product, and just like the original SUV, which was first unveiled here in India and simultaneously in the US, the facelifted Venue could also see its global unveiling here first.

The Venue has been in the market for nearly three years, and with the segment maturing and growing more competitive all this while, it is just about time for the Venue to receive a facelift.

  • Venue facelift gets styling inspired by new-gen Tucson, Palisade
  • Will get more features but mechanically unchanged
  • Sportier N-Line version likely on the cards

Hyundai Venue facelift: what will be new?

Spied test mules of the Venue facelift have hinted at a completely new front and rear fascia. Up front, the facelift will get a refreshed grille inspired by the next-gen Tucson’s and the updated Palisade full-size SUV's Parametric Dynamics design language, which will also be seen on the upcoming Creta facelift. It will also boast of a new design for the split headlamps along with reprofiled front bumper.

In profile, the compact SUV will remain mostly unchanged, although its alloy wheels will be designed afresh. The rear end, too, will be completely redesigned with L-shaped tail lamps featuring new LED inserts and a reprofiled bumper with a faux skid plate.

We haven’t yet come across interior images of the Venue facelift, but we expect minor cosmetic tweaks to the dashboard, along with new upholstery. Hyundai is also expected to throw in some additional features, such as a larger touchscreen, among others, but we will have more details closer to its debut.

Hyundai Venue facelift: N Line variant to join the line-up

The i20 N Line was the first of Hyundai's N Line models in India, and next in line could be the Venue, albeit in its facelifted guise. The Venue N Line has already been spied testing overseas featuring a sportier design with unique front and rear bumpers, red accents, twin exhaust tips and new design for the alloy wheels. The interior is expected to feature an all-black theme with red accents and N Line logos. The Venue N Line will likely only be offered with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, with gearbox options likely to include the 7-speed DCT and 6-speed iMT units.

Hyundai Venue facelift: powertrain options

The Venue facelift is expected to remain mechanically unchanged from the current model, which means it could continue with the 83hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engines. Gearbox options are also expected to be carried forward as is.

Hyundai Venue facelift: rivals and price

Upon launch, the Hyundai Venue facelift will continue its rivalry with the likes of the Kia SonetTata NexonMahindra XUV300Renault KigerNissan Magnite and refreshed versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – both of which are also due to receive a major update in the coming months. Expect a step up in the prices as well, with the current model being priced between Rs 6.99 lakh-11.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
